There’s something magnetic about Baton Rouge—a perfect mix of Southern charm and creative energy that makes it an ideal place to live and grow.
Embracing a BTR Rhythm
I first came to Baton Rouge for college, and even though I moved away for graduate school, I couldn’t wait to come back and launch my career here. There’s something magnetic about Baton Rouge—a perfect mix of Southern charm and creative energy that makes it an ideal place to live and grow. What I love most is how easy it is to navigate, especially professionally. It feels like a place where opportunities are right around the corner, and the community is welcoming and open to collaboration.
Whether it’s the cultural events or the natural beauty, Baton Rouge offers a rhythm that feels just right.
Building My Baton Rouge Community
I’m fortunate to be involved in several meaningful communities here. I organize and curate TEDxBatonRouge, which has given me the opportunity to help showcase some of the region’s most innovative ideas. I also serve on the board of the Louisiana Arts and Sciences Museum, where I love supporting the incredible work they do to foster creativity and education. Additionally, my professional network has grown exponentially through my leadership development work, and I've connected with people who are passionate about helping Baton Rouge thrive. Even though I didn’t grow up here, I’ve found it easy to network and build relationships, both professionally and personally.
A Tight-Knit Professional Community Offers BTR Opportunity
Baton Rouge has been the perfect launchpad for my career. After grad school, I knew I wanted to return here because the city’s blend of ambition and accessibility is truly unique. I’ve been able to carve out my niche in the work we do at Success Labs, thanks in part to the collaborative and tight-knit professional community. Whether through TEDxBatonRouge or working with various organizations, I’ve experienced firsthand how the city fosters innovation and leadership.
Baton Rouge’s size makes it easy to get involved and make meaningful connections, which has been critical to my career growth.
No Reason to be Bored in Baton Rouge
An ideal weekend in Baton Rouge for me starts with a visit to the downtown farmers market, grabbing local produce and a handful of fresh flowers. From there, I’d head to the BREC dog park to let my pup run around and enjoy the outdoors. Brunch is a must, and I’d stop by one of my favorite spots, BLDG 5 or Mestizo, both known for their delicious food and inviting atmospheres. The afternoon would be perfect for a visit to the Louisiana Arts and Sciences Museum, exploring their latest exhibit and supporting the amazing work they do. To round out the weekend, I’d cheer on the Tigers at an LSU sporting event—no matter the sport, there’s nothing quite like the energy of an LSU game day! As I’ve said for years…if you’re bored in Baton Rouge, you’re doing it wrong.
I have found that the region's unique strength lies in its community of creatives, changemakers, and advocates all wanting to build a better way of life.
